Thomas Utech, Pharm.D., is a licensed pharmacist and a leading industry expert for Medication Management.
Dr. Utech has nearly 20 years of industry experience and extensive experience across pharmacy practice. Tom’s career focus has been on transforming medication management and finding ways for technology to deliver meaningful solutions to pharmacy providers.
Most recently Tom served in various capacities at Cardinal Health and CareFusion (now BD), with responsibilities ranging from clinical support for the sales organization to leading strategy, product management, and global marketing for the Medication Management Solutions business at BD. Under Tom’s leadership at BD, the portfolio offering evolved to a connected medication management platform — a unique combination of technology, analytics and services that connects and delivers new solutions and value to customers.
Prior to BD, Tom led hospital pharmacy operations for both inpatient and outpatient medication management. While at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, Tom managed pharmacy operations across multiple hospitals on Baylor’s main campus, where he was responsible for budgeting, purchasing, and daily operation for medication logistics and safety. Prior to Baylor, Tom was the assistant director of pharmacy at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, where he was responsible for pharmaceutical contracting and financial planning, inpatient and outpatient operations, the county welfare and employee pharmaceutical benefit program, the Ryan White program, and the 340B drug program.
Dr. Utech earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and completed a General Pharmacy Practice Residency from the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. He is a member of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists.
